Land Science Ltd is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in West Sussex or to lead a new office in Hertfordshire.

Ready for your next career move? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious consultant with proven background in site investigation to join us as at Senior level. The role can be based out of our office near Brighton or based from home in south-east England.

The role will provide direct support for graduates and technicians engaged on individual projects; designing investigation strategies, planning, mentoring, supervising, checking, reviewing, and approving their work. You will take the lead on factual and interpretive report writing, managing the project through the pipeline to timely delivery. You will work together with and be supported by a multi-disciplinary team including contaminated land professionals and operations manager. The role will be primarily office based and will involve direct liaison with clients.

There is great growth potential, with the prospect of becoming a Principal Engineer in due course, helping to lead on technical and operational aspects of our Geotechnical activities, planning and developing our capabilities, training, and systems. We are a diverse multidisciplinary team of Engineers, Geologists and Scientists engaged on an interesting and varied range of ground investigation projects in the residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors. We provide interpretive reports for a range of clients including self-builders, developers, public bodies, and larger consultancies. Our projects are primarily based in the UK, and range in size from the most basic service for homeowners up to major ground investigation contracts in excess of £100K value. We are developing and expanding our in-house range of laboratory and contracting capabilities. It is an exciting time to join the business as we look to expand and build on our excellent reputation for quality and client focus.

In terms of Geotechnical work, we are typically involved with the assessment of shallow foundations, piles, rafts, basements, basement extensions, underpinning, earthworks, slope stability, subsidence, ground movement analysis, soakaways, vibration assessment, and ground improvement. As a company we provide Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental expertise, and there will be interdisciplinary collaboration on many projects, supported by and working alongside our other specialists. All projects require an element of report writing and you will have proven strengths in this area.

With strong interpersonal skills, you should have an eye for detail, enjoy seeking solutions to technical challenges, and have an all-round flair and passion for your profession. You will need a relevant science-based degree, Chartered (or working towards), with direct UK experience in the ground investigation industry. Minimum requirements for the role include:

· Senior level: 2+ years direct UK experience in site investigation

· Chartered or working towards chartered status

· A degree in a relevant subject (Geology, Engineering, or similar)

· Detailed working knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes

· Experience in working with clients and liaising with regulators

· A full driving licence
