Case Studies

See our Case Studies below:

NEW DWELLING, KENT
A substantial new residential dwelling with a deep basement at various levels and a sunken garden constructed into Weald Clay. Land Science provided detailed technical advice regarding total and differential foundation settlements and heave through unloading.
Case Studies FORMER BOAT YARD, MIDDLESEX
This project involved the redevelopment of a former boat yard and listed buildings into a new restaurant, including conversion of a former dry dock into a basement and the construction of a dwelling with basement in difficult and variable ground conditions with a shallow water table. Ground contamination associated with the former dockyard was assessed in detail to the satisfaction of the planning authority.
Case Studies FORMER GAS WORKS, LONDON
Land Science were appointed by the design and build contractor of this major landmark mixed commercial and residential use development. The site had previously been subject to numerous phases of previous investigation, which Land Science brought together into an updated risk assessment specific to the intended development. Further investigations were undertaken, to the satisfaction of the Local Authority and NHBC. The need for remediation works was minimised, and ongoing compliance monitoring is currently being undertaken.
NEW SCHOOL PROJECT, LONDON
With a previous investigation undertaken by a different organisation having been rejected by the Local Authority, Land Science undertook a detailed and rapid contamination investigation on this former industrial site being converted into educational use. The site had been used for a plethora of minor industrial uses including printing, dry cleaning, and vehicle maintenance, and we were able to limit the extent of remediation necessary to include a vapour resistant barrier.
HOSPITAL EXTENSION, LONDON
We were appointed for this small project to provide details of existing foundations and design parameters for new footings. The hospital was a secure mental health unit covering the south-east, and we worked closely with the site staff to minimise disruption.
Case Studies PARK REMEDIATION, LONDON
Land Science undertook extensive investigations in various private properties and open spaces in relation to ongoing subsidence assessment and planned major estate-wide landscaping improvement works for this leading housing association. Land Science were able to show that remediation of the park was not required.
